New, Improved Features!

We are happy to announce the release of a couple of new features at NHLPens.com.

First, we have completely overhauled our user interface for our visitors using mobile devices.  The new interface will give users an excellent  mobile application experience when viewing NHLPens from popular touch-based smartphones like iPhoneTM, iPod touchTM, AndroidTM, PalmTM Pre/Pixi, and BlackBerry StormTM.  Additionally, if you are an iPhone or iPod Touch user, you can also select “Add to Home Screen” by pushing the “+” button when viewing the site.  This will make NHLPens.com appear on your Home screen just like all of your other Apps do, making NHLPens just a touch away!   To overcome Apple’s flash limitations, we have changed all of our video feeds to YouTube format, so that you can now access them all from your Apple device as well.

Next, we have created a daily news digest that will provide a roundup of all the day’s news that is related to your Pittsburgh Penguins.  This news digest will be posted each day in the late afternoon and will provide a brief introduction and links to all the interesting news stories related to your Penguins from that day.  If you are a NHLPens subscriber and have opted to recieve e-mail notification of updates to our blog, you will automatically get these daily roundups delivered to your mailbox each day.  Of course, you can turn this off in your profile if you would like.

We hope that you like these new features.  We are gearing up for what is sure to be another exciting year of Penguins hockey.  With the loss of Sergei Gonchar and Mark Eaton to Free Agency, the addition of Paul Martin and Zbynek Michalek to the blueline, and a brand new world-class arena, there will surely be a lot of changes for the Pens this coming season…..and we will be there every step of the way.  Look for more blog updates this season, as we are now beyond the family health issues that slowed us down in 2009/10.   As always, Let’s Go Pens!
